A compilation of serialized articles from Ongaku no Tomo (2009-2010). Based on research notes for Hirano's novel Funeral, featuring Chopin and Delacroix, this volume presents places and relationships connected to Chopin in an engaging, sometimes essay-like narrative. In addition to material not included in the serialization—such as contemporary maps showing Chopin's residences, accounts of research in Poland, and programme notes—the volume concludes with a portrait gallery of figures connected to Chopin. A long-awaited volume for both Chopin enthusiasts and fans of Hirano's writing.
